Roberto Lugo, MD, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon and orthopaedic sports medicine specialist. At Coastal Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Center in Port St. Lucie and Stuart, Florida, Dr. Lugo specializes in treating sports injuries, preserving cartilage, and using minimally invasive techniques for joint replacement.
Dr. Lugo is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, an active member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and the Arthroscopy Association of North America. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Lugo publishes articles in peer-reviewed medical journals. He also presents his work at meetings of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.
Earning his medical degree with honors from Yale School of Medicine at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, Dr. Lugo went on to complete fellowship training in sports medicine and arthroscopy. During this training, Dr. Lugo participated in the care of professional athletes.
At Coastal Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Center, Dr. Lugo provides comprehensive orthopaedic care for a variety of sports injuries, including Achilles tendon ruptures, rotator cuff tears, and cartilage damage. He uses the latest technologies and techniques for minimally invasive and traditional surgery.
In his free time, Dr. Lugo enjoys staying physically fit and spending time with his wife and their two children. He previously worked as a cartoonist and still has a passion for sketching.
