Meet Our Board Certified Physicians

Norman A. Palmeri, M.D.

Dr. Palmeri has over 20 years of experience in orthopaedic surgery, including special training and treatment of athletic injuries.  he was recently appointment team physician for the New York / St. Lucie Mets and has demonstrated a commitment to athletics, including treatment of local high school football and baseball players.

Dr. Palmeri's commitment to sports related injuries developed through specialized training and research in sports medicine, through which Dr. Palmeri was honored by the North American Arthroscopy Association for outstanding achievements in orthopaedic surgery and arthroscopy for the development of arthroscopic techniques for the repair of knee meniscus injuries.  Dr. Palmeri was the co-inventor of an absorbable anchor to repair this without open incisions through a minimally invasive technique.

Dr. Palmeri has also pioneered local introduction of techniques for robotic and computer assisted partial knee replacement surgery and minimally invasive surgery of the hip and knee.

Dr. Palmeri was Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in 1994 and once again in 2004.  He is a diplomat of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Florida Orthopaedic Society.

Dr. Palmeri has authored and co-authored numerous scientific publications, including those presented at national orthopaedic society meetings and is listed in Who's Who in Medicine.

Dr. Palmeri feels that the care of the orthopaedic patients involves decisions for both the patient and the physician and would like to enlist the patients in his decision making process, offering them multiple options whenever available, including the latest innovations available.  He feels that patients of Coastal Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Center should be treated like family, keeping the patients best interests in mind, utilizing the utmost concern in determining treatment and quality of care.


Edward J. Rossario, M.D.

Dr. Edward J. Rossario is a Board Certified orthopaedic surgeon that has been in professional clinical practice for over seventeen years.

After graduating from Florida State Univesity college of Medicine with multiple honors and research distinction, he attended the New York Medical College for specialty training in Orthopaedic Surgery. His expertise includes arthroscopic reconstructive surgery of the shoulder and knee, as well as minimally invasive total joint replacement arthroplasty of the knee, the hip and the shoulder. He is also one of the few FDA approved surgeons in the world that performs conforMIS Patient Specific Knee Replacement surgery and teaches other surgeons this very highly specialized surgical technique.

Dr. Rossario frequently lectures and educates other orthopaedic surgeons on state of the art procedures for the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions. In particular, he is enthusiastic about the greatly improved patient satisfaction and clinical outcomes with patient specific joint replacement technology.

John S. Hruska, M.D.

Dr. Hruska completed both his Residency in Orthopaedic Surgery and his Research Fellowship at the State University of New York at Buffalo, where his training encompassed state-of-the-art procedures in joint replacements (i.e. knees, hips, and shoulders), in arthroscopy, in fracture care, and in minimally-invasive spinal surgery. Dr. Hruska completed an Orthopaedic Spine Fellowship at Buffalo General Hospital.

Dr. Hruska is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and belongs to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Southern Orthopaedic Association, and Southern Medical Association.

Dr. Hruska, with over a decade of experience in residency and clinical practice in orthopaedic medicine, has been serving our community for many years, and enjoys providing the quality care you deserve.

Dr. Hruska takes pride in spending quality time with each patient explaining both the conservative and the surgical options that are available to properly treat your problem.

Dr. Hruska is married and has two children. He enjoys boating, fishing, playing golf and spending time with his family. He strives to provide the most professional and compassionate care to all his patients.

Gerald C. Shute, M.D.

Dr. Shute is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon. He completed his Residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. His Fellowship training was accomplished at the University of Texas’ Houston Health Science Center/ Baylor Medical Center. His training encompassed state-of-the-art procedures in joint replacements, arthroscopy, fracture care, and the treatment of foot, ankle, and knee disorders.

Dr. Shute is trained int he newly developed ConforMIS Partial and Total Knee Patient-Specific joint replacement surgery.  He has extensive experience with muscle sparing hip and knee replacements technique, resulting in less pain and faster recovery time for the patient.

Dr. Shute is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery and a member of the Florida Orthopaedic Association.  With over thirteen years of experience, Dr. Shute is available to provide quality care for all of your orthopaedic needs and is on staff at Martin Memorial Hospital, St. Lucie Medical Center, Lawnwood Regional Medical Center, and Tradition  Medical Center.

Dr. Shute wants his patients to be well informed and involved in their treatment options. He takes great pride in offering the most modern and innovative treatments for orthopaedic problems.

Roberto Lugo, M.D.

Roberto Lugo is a graduate of Yale University School of Medicine where he obtained a degree with honors in Molecular and Cellular Biology. He also completed a Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Fellowship participating in the care of professional athletes.

Dr. Lugo is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, and is now Board Certified in Sports Medicine as well. His research has been published in peer-reviewed medical journals and has been presented at several Orthopaedic Society meetings. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America and the American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine.

Dr. Lugo enjoys films, physical fitness, sketching and was previously a cartoonist. Dr. Lugo is married and has two children; he spends his free time enjoying family activities around the community.

Aron M. Trocchia, M.D.

Aron Trocchia M.D. completed his medical school degree at Drexel University College of Medicine. Dr. Trocchia attended William Beaumont Hospital for his general orthopaedic training.  He attended The University of Rochester for his Hand and Upper Extremity Fellowship.  Dr. Trocchia is a member of the American Medical Association, AAOS, and American Society for Surgery of the Hand.

Dr. Trocchia practices both general orthopaedic medicine and specializes in treating Hand and Upper Extremity orthopaedic injuries and/or conditions.  He is Board Certified in general orthopaedic surgery and Board Certified  in Hand, Elbow and Shoulder Surgery.

Dr. Trocchia is married and has one child. He enjoys spending his free time with his family and working on home improvement projects.

Emily Helene Putney, D.O., M.S.

Dr. Emily H. Putney will be joining Coastal Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Center the fall of 2015! Dr. Putney attended medical school at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine Of New York Institute Of Technology and graduated in 2009. Dr. Putney completed her Orthopaedic Surgical Residency at Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where she also served as Chief Resident.

Dr. Putney is currently serving her Orthopaedic Spine Surgery Fellowship Appointment at Texas Back Institute in Plano, Texas.

Dr. Putney has been the recipient of Resident of the Year at Broward Health Medical Center of 2014 and the Achievement Award for Outstanding Scientific Paper of the Year for the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopaedics in 2013.

Dr. Putney is a member of the Florida Medical Association, Florida Osteopathic Medical Association, Florida Orthopaedic Society, American Osteopathic Association and the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopaedics.

Dr. Putney is married and has a baby boy; she and her family enjoy spending time boating on our beautiful Florida waters.  Coastal Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Center is excited to have Dr. Emily H. Putney join our practice this fall.

Keith E. Ingram, M.D.

Dr. Keith Ingram is a Board Certified Pain Management Physician providing compassionate pain management intervention using state-of-the–art fluoroscopic guided procedures.

Dr. Ingram completed his medical school training at University of Florida and his residency at University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Ingram is a member of the American Medical Association, Florida Medical Association, Florida Society of Anesthesiologists and International Anesthesiologists Research Society.
